Karen Norris is a mixed media artist currently working with gourds. Creating art from gourds requires the mastery of painting, woodcarving and lots of experimentation.

She enjoys working with gourds as she finds them “remarkably versatile”. “When dry, they sport the durability of wood and have the added bonus of their unusual shapes and individual personality.”

Karen’s newest gourd art pieces are based on her love of all media, “while feeding my delight in recycling materials such as old book pages, leaves and scraps of material.” For this group of gourd art she drew inspiration from her passion for flower gardening and love of nature as well as her “seriously whimsical” themes of angels, people, birds and vessels.

Join us for an Artist's Reception, meet Karen and experience her art.
